For João Canijo, the prize received at the Berlin Film Festival was the reward of a teamwork. "It was a very dedicated team, it gave everything, what it had and didn't have, to make this film, it was rewarded," he stressed, expressing that "the team is all delusional" with the distinction. The director told Lusa that the prize awarded to his film "Mal Viver" by the Berlin Film Festival "means a new life"and"proves that the Portuguese cinema has quality".
Leonor Teles, licensed in Cinema by the Higher School of Theatre and Cinema, is the director of photography of the film" Mal Living ". In the speech of thanks, at the award ceremony of the galargive, the director made a special reference to Leonor Teles, who considers his"soulmate and artistic companion".

João Canijo, born in 1957, attended the National Conservatory Film School, and completed the Mestrado of Cinematographic Project Development by ESTC. It was an assistant accomplishment of Manoel de Oliveira, Wim Wenders, Alain Tanner, Jorge Silva Melo, Werner Schroeter and Paulo Rocha. Since 1985, his long films are presented at the most diverse international film festivals. It exerts a parallel career in Teaching, with Workshops, Masterclasses or lecturer in disciplines of Realization, Argument and Interpretation for Cinema, both at national and international level. Since 1986 it also stages plays for Theatre. His films have been the subject of several retrospectives at festivals such as the BAFICI in Buenos Aires, the BIFF, in Busan, the Festival International du Film de La Rochelle and in the National Cineteca of Mexico, among others.
