Henry David Thoreau through an essay his presented to the world the concept of civil disobedience where he advocates that citizens should revolt against unfair laws in a non-violent way with a view to social transformation. Thus, we propose to look back at these trials as direct forms of civic intervention and change agents.

Particigings should submit an essay on the topic of democracy, in which they address the importance of their maintenance and develop proposals for measures to ensure their preservation. The essay should be original and unheard, written in Portuguese language, and have a maximum of 5000 characters (approximately 3 pages). Will be selected the five best essays. The authors of these essays will be invited to participate in a time of debate in hackathon format. The measures resulting from this discussion will be compiled in a list of 5 proposals, which will be presented to the municipal chamber of Lisbon, with the aim of contributing to the maintenance and strengthening of democracy in the city.

The Political Festival will take place between days 21 and April 23 at Cinema São Jorge and the entrance is free.

"Ensaiing democracy"  will happen Saturday, April 22, at 16h30.
