Three of the four Portuguese films in this edition of the Cannes Film Festival are from Alumni of the Higher School of Theatre and Cinema.

They are:  

-the short film "Cintilbefore bodies", by the Portuguese director Inês Teixeira (born in Lisbon, 1991; formed in assembly by the ESTC), is selected for the competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival Critique Week.  "Cintilating bodies" is a Terratreme production. The Portuguese director of photography Rui Poças (who in 1993 ended up Cinema Licentiate in the Image area) is part of the Critique Week jury.

Joao Salaviza (Alumnus ESTC) and Renée Nader Messora return to the Un Certain Regard de Cannes section with"CROWDAM [The Buriti's Flor]", prolonging the duo's relationship with the indigenous Krahô community started with Chuva is Cantoria in the Village of the Dead. Highlight for this luscious film-Brazilian film by having won the Elenco Award in the above mentioned section.

-and, in the Official Selection of the Festival, Pedro Costa will make the film's premiere "The Daughters of the Fire" (a short film played by the singers Elizabeth Pinard, Alice Costa and Karyna Gomes), being the fifth time that the Portuguese director (and former student of ESTC) marks presence in Cannes,
